71st ride

Tried to ride some kilometers with the giant pack of riders of the club(30 to 40 (wo)men).But I didn't feel well to go with a pace of 40 k/hr.
Since this week I got a kind of pain in my left chest. May it's a muscle after the fabulous Sunday morning ride last week.

70th ride of 2005.

I rode along the Amsterdam- Rhine canal to the cycle track at the Nedereindseberg.
After 11 kilometers I was there and raced 20 kilometers at full speed. It went so easy. Nobody was on the pretty new track. After that I cycled 15 k home. The last 5k was again fast.

This time I rode for the 2nd time in a row with some riders starting at 11 am.
Some riders are nearly as good as an average amateur. And that is a status many riders would only be that in their dreams. But there is also a rider who started in the Dutch national championships (on road) cycling. He rode with/against Dutch riders who are in the Tour de France momentarily. This is unbelievable. Only a few steps and I'm riding with professionals. I'm kidding myself, It's a huge gap between them and me. In two and a half hours they'll ride 135 kilometers and I know from this day that I can do 88 kilometers in that time.

The fast riders were too fast. They didn't stop at Amerongen too.
I decided to cycle the 35 k back and not to wait on the second group.
This was not a wise decision. Against the wind my speed dropped dramatically from an average of 32 k/hr tot 28 k/hr.
The second group of riders didn't catch me too.

After 6 pm the pots & pans cyclists cycled a 35 kilometers to a quiet place to cycle a round of 5.8 kilometer. A lot of wind was an obstacle for a fast time.
I did that in 10 minutes and 37 seconds. The winner did it in 9:17 minutes.

My first 100 kilometer this year and I rode a fantastic time. Together with a group of even better rider I got the best out of my bike.
I must say that it was dangerous sometimes. Cars that don't have the patience to ride behind the last rider and traffic on the dyke that should not belong there.
No you can ride more savely when you're on your own.
I took the last wheel and promoted myself as the conductor of this group of riders.
