Haarzuilens

After 13 K, Castle De Haar.
Today I cycled quit slowly. After 15 K there was some drizzle which remained for 10 k.
Temperature was high compared with yesterday, so being soaked didn't mean very cold.

Barefoot

Today it was pretty warm compared with the last days, 4 degrees C as a maximum but only 2 when I rode my mileage.
I tried to ride without socks. My co worker does it too on his way to work and back.
I tried it after reading in a newsgroup about 2 pairs of socks, (tried that too but it doesn't work for me)
I rode barefoot along the canal to my turning point at 15 K. First I had a slight sidewind but after some "hills" the wind blew right in my face.
I tried to pass a boat sailing at some distance and had a cramp in my left upper leg. It must be the cold.

Rain

In front of the promised snowy showers there were rainy showers as predicted.
At 3 pm I saw them coming on the western horizon. In Woerden I got the first raindrops and back home the last. I could refresh my mind riding in rainy weather.
Mostly I have no rain, lucky me.

Long day

It was a long day again. At my work I had a lot to do but it was a monotonious day.
The atmosphere was good, but not one of laughing 40 times.
But above all I feel tired right now.
So many things to do.

Castle

Not until spring 2004 I knew that some kind of a castle , a reinforced house, was behind the trees. Castle Sterkenburg is between Werkhoven and Doorn.
The photograph has a sepia effect to accentuate the age of the building.

Though the wind made it colder than yesterday I cycled a little more.
The stretch was hilly.

At the end of the route

Looking back at the -Prins Claus- bridge, a beautiful bridge leading to nothing. However it's one of the Dutch artificial hills.

The Lek

This is the Lek. A river the Allies in the Second World War found so hard to cross. On this river the Vikings sailed to Dorestad, up-river 15 kilometers or 10 miles. The Viking murdered and plundered the rich city and destroyed the castle of the landlord. in the 9th century.

Watertower

This French looking watertower (It is now the livingspace of a family) is always a landmark cycling back to Utrecht.

Storm

A storm raged over Europe.
Later, after the storm reached its high, I trained some K's.
It was a heavy training and I had to be constantly on my qui vivre not being swept away by a blow of the wind. In that way it was an unpleasant ride. But the temp. was so good, over the 10 degrees C.
